My father was with the 7350th ABGP,Tempelhof; my mother was a nurse at the US Army hospital. We lived in BB,next to Truman Plaza. We children attended TAR and BAHS, enjoyed the Outpost and DYA with friends, and fondly remember our forays to the British and French exchanges and (less frequently) Karl-Marx Stadt.Thank you for a great site and excellent homage to those who served and laid the foundation for the unified Berlin/Germany I had heretofore never dreamt would be realized in my lifetime. |

Interesting site. I arrived in Berlin in early '60. Assigned to the S-3 section at Battle Group Headquarters, where I worked with a group of great enlisted men, and a few good officers. Berlin was a wonderful duty station and the people of Berlin were always gracious and kindhearted. |

WAS IN BERLIN FROM DEC OF 1958 TILL SEPT OF 63, SAW THE WHOLE THING FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT OF F24, WE WERE THE FIRST TO GET TO THE CHECKPOINT, I TO SAW THE WALL GO UP AND ALL THE CRAZINESS. LOVED THE YEARS I SPENT THERE, ALL THE FOLKS WERE SO GOOD TO US, AND I HOPE, WE TO THEM. LOTS OF GOOD MEMORIES AND PICS I LOOK AT, BELONG TO THE BERLIN VETS CLUB HERE IN THE STATES. USED TO HANG OUT AT THE KBS, STEPHANIES AND OTHERS I CAN NOT REMEMBER, CHARLIE GORTON |

I was stationed at the hospital from 1972-1974. Worked in ER/OPD. The best duty location in the military! Anybody else out there? |
